This is the New Year for fruits and trees, which is celebrated by eating different varieties of fruit and planting new trees. The festival also marks the end of winter and the beginning of spring. Tree planting events are plentiful around the city. Look in the listings information of the Jerusalem Post or Haretz for venues or call the JNF for details on their tree-planting programs. Admission is free to these holiday celebrations.
