The observation deck at the top of the building sits atop a viewing deck that offers the viewer information about many of the local sights, from the Eiffel Tower to the Arc de Triomphe.
Make sure you have a good zoom on your camera to zoom in onto those landmarks.
This place is accessible to Gare Montparnasse, and if you're looking to get some great aerial shots of the Eiffel Tower and company, this is one place to consider.

Like most malls, Montparnasse has a "food court". The food court has fast food and at least one reasonably priced full service restaurant. We ate at the latter, although we can't remember the name. The food was light lunch fare including sandwiches, pizza, and salad. The food was good and the service was good even though we arrived in the middle of the lunch rush.
The best feature of the mall is the skyscraper adjacent to the shopping area. You can purchase a ticket for about 5-10 USD to ride in the elevator. The skyscraper offers a panoramic view of the entire city. The building is more than 50 stories high; taller than the Eiffel Tower. When we visited, there were only about 5 or 6 other people there. We were able to stay at our leisure and take pictures or sit at table for drinks and light snacks.
It was an overcast day so our pictures didn't turn out as well as we would have liked. On a previous visit we had perfect weather and we returned with wonderful pictures. Unfortunately our camera wasn't working on this trip. The view is nothing less than spectacular. When the weather is clear, you can see all the way to Montmartre and to the Basilique du Sacre Coeur. The view gives the traveler a sense of the scope of the city. We found it to be very useful tool to use in orienting ourselves when traveling around Paris.
