This event is officially recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records as the largest gathering of cyclists on the planet. In early June, 45,000 take to their bikes to pedal between 60 and 70 kilometres through the streets of Montreal, a city ordained by Bicycling Magazine as the friendliest for cycling in the world. The children's tour (Tour des Enfants), which occurs a week prior, features more than 10,000 kids between the ages of six and 12. Registration costs CAD23 for adults, CAD10 for children 7-14 and seniors, and free for children under 7.
