The official place to park is at Sunset and Temescal, where you'd find the trail head. However, it is possible to park at the top of Bienvienda (right off of Sunset, West of Temescal). It cuts the distance to Skull Rock almost in half, and you avoid the 6 dollar parking charge. The street dead ends into gated community, and corners to the left. On the right is the entrance to the trail. Free parking at the curb. After getting away from the Palisade Mansions, there is a welcome silence. In either direction are vistas and ocean views. There's a waterfall which is more of a trickle; in the summer, there's less water than a leaky faucet.
