If you enjoy the song Hotel California by the Eagles, then you will definitely like this tour. There were only four of us but we liked eating at Tequila Sunrise and shopping at the different shops. Do not expect to bargain in the store where all the Hotel California merchandise is sold.

Town of Todos Santos

Despite the excellent food we enjoyed in Todos Santos (see Adobe Restaurant), the reason for going to visit the town is the general ambience and the concentration of artists. The pottery we bought was definitely worth having to hand carry it onto the airplane: it's beautiful, and the prices were extremely reasonable--$40.00 for a large pot. There is a jeweler there whose mother developed an international reputation in the 1920's through the 1940's. He has begun producing her designs again, and they are lovely. Again, the prices are reasonable for wearable art which will always remind you of your trip to Todos Santos. In addition, there are, of course, a number of shops selling more traditional handcrafts. The town itself is worth a few hours strolling--it isn't touristy, and there are lovely things to look at and good food to eat.

Adobe Restaurant in Todos Santos

Adobe Restaurant in Todos Santos

Todos Santos is a small community north of Cabo San Lucas which is well worth an expedition. There are many fine restaurants in the town, and we enjoyed our lunch at The Adobe Restaurant very much. Juan Segovia and Erik Castellanos took over a 100 year old dilapidated which was originally a storage unit for sugar cane when Todos Santos was known for that industry. The business dried up with the decline in sugar prices following W.W.II, which occurred at the same time as the water table in Todos Santos dropped. When Juan and Erik took over the ruin, few had much hope for it, but in just three months they have created a first class Mexican restaurant with outdoor dining in back. Now, the building is part of the Todos Santos history tour. Part of the building has been deliberately left unpainted to show the adobe bricks used in the construction. The menu is excellent and the prices are reasonable. Their most expensive meal is $18.00 U.S., but most are far less. Try a real Caesar salad followed by chicken with mole or some of the fresh seafood. The restaurant is located on Hidalgo Street in downtown Todos Santos.
