Description
Tempozan is one of the more attractive and popular waterside areas of Osaka, and this park occupies a small corner of the district. It is a quiet, relaxing place in an otherwise bustling area, but is also somewhat nondescript. It does, however, have some history. In 1831, a four-and-a-half-meter man-made mound was created in the shape of a mountain after a nearby river was dredged. 'Tempo' was the name of the era in which it was constructed, while 'zan' indicates”'mountain,” hence the name of the area. All that remains now is a small plaque and old artistic renderings of the hill.
