Description
Less than an hour away from Jerusalem lies the very different world of Tel Aviv. Whereas Jerusalem may be old, serious and religious, Tel Aviv is its frivolous, live on the wild side counterpart. Tel Aviv is a non-stop city of beautiful people, boutiques and commerce, nestled along the beaches of the Mediterannean, where even at 3am locals are still drinking coffee and walking their dogs.
The first Jewish city, Tel Aviv was founded in 1909 and the greater Tel Aviv area is home to almost one third of the country's population. Must dos include strolling on the beach at sunset, meandering around the adjacent ancient city of Jaffa, visiting the Diaspora Museum, blending in with the trendy set on Sheinkin Street (Tel Aviv's answer to Greenwich Village) and trying out the city's highly rated nightlife.
Egged buses and service taxis (sheruts) leave frequently to Tel Aviv.
