Teatr Zverei imeni Durova (Durov Animal Theatre)

Description

Vladimir Durov was at various times a clown, sculptor, musician, animal trainer and scientist. In one of these guises (guess which) he created this theatre in 1912. Here he showed plays where instead of actors, trained animals perform. His main principle was to train animals with love and care. By knowing and using their natural instincts he achieved amazing results.

A bigger stage for 328 spectators was built for the theatre in 1980. Now the theatre operates two stages: one for young children from 2 to 6 years old and another for older ones and their parents. Plays in this theatre teach them to love nature and animals and treat them with respect.
