Description: The Taste of the Danforth is a weekend-long festival takes place every year in Greektown in early August.
Danforth Avenue is closed to traffic between Bayview and Bloor, stages for live music are set up as well as food stalls. Many local restaurants have a chance to promote their food this way.
We went there on the Saturday night. It may not have been a wise decision since there was a lot of traffic and huge crowds.
We were greeted by a Scola do Samba show on the Bayview stage- Brazilian musicians and dancers doing the traditional Carnival moves.
We walked along Danforth Ave trying to decide what to eat. There weren't many stalls at that end. We bought pierogies, meatballs and cabbage rolls, which were good.
There was a live band playing on another stage along the way. The closer we got to Bloor St, the thicker the crowd got. There weren't too many Greek food stalls and the few open ones had long queues.
The last show we saw was a tango show. There were musicians, two dancers and a singer. At one point, some of the audience started to dance along with the music. It was really cool.
