Description
This neo-classical building is one of the Kremlin's newer structures, and one of the three lying within the restricted 'government zone'. It was built in 1934 as training quarters for Red Army commanders, but now holds government offices. Like all the Kremlin's buildings, there is at least one anecdote to add mystery to the place: once the post-Stalin political thaw got under way things went awry for Stalin's chief terror-monger Beria, and it was here he was finally arrested.
