Sudley House

Description

This grand house is located approximately four miles from the city centre in a quiet residential area. The building was originally the family home of George Holt, a Victorian ship owner, until his daughter bequeathed it to the city in 1944. Set in attractive grounds, the unique property has retained the owner's private collection of fine art from the 18th and 19th century. The house provides a fascinating insight into the Victorian era and the art collection includes works by Gainsborough, Landseer, Corot and the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood. The tearoom serves delicious home-made cakes.

Admission: adults £3.00, senior citizens and children free. Price includes unlimited access for 12 months to all Merseyside museums.
