Description
This is a celebration of the birth of Lord Krishna, the eighth incarnation on earth of Lord Vishnu. Lord Krishna's foster mother, Yashoda, celebrated the occasion 5,000 years ago with an opulent and elaborate Abhiseka ceremony accompanied by the chanting of Vedic hymns by learned brahmans. Today in Malaysia, special ritual practices are conducted in temples. During the session images of Krishna are bathed in milk, honey, ghee, yogurt and other auspicious liquids.
