There are two reasonably large ski resorts within four hours drive of Istanbul: the first is Uludag, just above Bursa and then there's Kartalkaya, near Bolu on the road to Ankara. Uludag offers its multitudes of weekend and day trip skiers easy and intermediate runs. It certainly isn't as great as most of the local tour operators would like you to believe. The skiing at Kartalkaya is much better. Sporting sells ski and general sports equipment, and organises ski trips to both mountains on a regular basis.
