Description
Sokolniki was the name given to royal falconers who resided in this area around the seventeenth century. This modern park was established during Stalin's reign, in 1930, as an alternative to Gorky Park further to the south. It is designated as a 'Place of Culture and Rest' and has been known to host ballroom dancing on a Sunday. The exhibition pavilions were once used to host Soviet trade fairs. Admission is free.
