Description
One of the oldest manor houses in the north of England, Smithills Hall has recently undergone a £1.8m renovation programme to restore it to its former glory.
There is a beautiful open timber roof, oak panelling in the 16th century drawing room, stained glass windows in the chapel and it is furnished with some fine examples of Stuart furniture. The hall is set in a 2,000 acre country park estate, with guided tours available and lots of events throughout the season, including wood turning demonstrations, Victorian crafts and a traditional May Day celebration.
