Abul Said Abuelafia

Description

Established in 1879, Abul Said Abuelafia, is an institution in Jaffa. Recently the bakery opened up a Tel Aviv counterpart, along the beachfront offering late night pittas, bagels and Arab pizzas for those who can't be bothered to “schlap” to Jaffa. There are a few Tel Aviv twists to this branch. It has a deli counter offering different salads and cream cheeses for (Arab-style) bagels and there are Argentinian pastries. Everything is cooked in a large brick oven, which is on display. A pitta with zatar (a local herb) costs NIS 3 and a flan with mushroom and eggs is NIS 8.
