As more and more of the greater Fort Myers area becomes developed, the more precious the Six Mile Cypress becomes. A new interpretive center highlights the flora and fauna of the region and boardwalks allow you to escape into the cypress swamps where overlooks and bird blinds let you view the native wildlife peacefully. Watch for otters, water moccasins, several species of wading birds and the occasional alligator. The entrance fee is minimal and certainly worth the opportunity to absorb the natural beauty of the slough.
