Seoul Tano Festival

Description

This lively festival heralds the beginning of the hot summer. On this day in early June--the fifth day of the fifth lunar month--people traditionally believed that vitality was the most plentiful, so they celebrated with a variety of games and events. Come here to enjoy traditional music and dance performances, and games contests including rope skipping, chachigi (stick-tossing), ssirum (wrestling), and swinging and seesawing. Watch out for the traditional martial arts demonstrations, and do not miss the lively marketplace buzzing with people dressed up as beggars, toffee and puffed rice vendors.
