SeaWorld is my favorite place in the entire world. I was so excited to visit this particular SeaWorld because it is the original one. The first thing we did at SeaWorld was participate in the DIP program, which is dolphin interaction. We got to put on wet suits and get into the water with the bottlenose dolphins. The experience is amazing and I have never felt so excited in my entire life. I would do this activity over and over again.

There is plenty to do and see at SeaWorld. You can learn about all types of animals like killer whales, dolphins, seals, sea lions, manatees, sharks, penguins, and so much more. When we went it was the 4th of July week and every night they had a special show with Shamu that ended with fireworks.

The best way to prepare for a trip to SeaWorld is to decide how many days you want to visit. Being as crazy as I am, we went 3 out of the 7 days that we were in San Diego, so it made the most sense to buy a season pass. The season pass only cost about $50 more than regular admission and we got to come back everyday for free and we also got a discount booklet for food and gifts, which totally saved me hundreds of dollars!! I recommend this to everyone! Everybody of all ages will enjoy this. It's really an experience you must enjoy for yourself.

We loved going to Sea World. The whale show was really entertaining. We also enjoyed the Sea Lion show. It was fun to pet the dolphins. It was cool to see the shark area, where you take an escalator under the tank.

Sea World also has a new roller coaster ride. I was unable to go on it, but my husband had a blast. You do get a little wet on it.

The drive from SoCal to La Jolla (pronounced La Hoi-ya) was quick at 11am. Sometimes the traffic can be crazy, so we were lucky. It's probably about a 1.5- to 2-hour drive, depending again on traffic. La Jolla is a beautiful coastal city north of San Diego with lots of great shops, boutiques, and restaurants. There was a very pretty cove and beach, but the weather wasn't exactly warm enough to hit the beach.

We stayed with a friend there and headed to SeaWorld in Mission Bay. Parking was $10, and it's definitely good to get there early. Admission was $53/Adult and $43/Child 3-9 without a coupon. We had the option to buy the Fun Pass for the same price, which was good for unlimited entry to the park until December 31, 2006. Again seeing everything in 1 day would require a lot of coordination and cooperation. The kids enjoyed watching the dolphin and Orca whale shows. Their favorite was the sea lion and sea otter show. The performance was loads of laughs and had a lot of interaction with the audience. The penguin and shark encounter was neat but crowded.

Guys should check out the Anheuser-Busch hospitality center for beer tasting, with two complimentary samples for guests 21 or older. There was decent-priced food at this location, and it was tasty, too. We were again limited to some of the rides, as we had small children, but the Journey to Atlantis looked like it was a blast. It would be good to go on when it's super hot in the summer. Height restrictions were 42 inches on the rides. I definitely would go back again to see other stuff we missed.

SeaWorld has a wonderful collection of penguins, therefore I had to make a visit. This turned out to be a wonderful day out, with all sorts of things to do and see. Was I surprised the Clydesdale horses were there? Yes! Was I surprised that the food in the Anheuser-Busch Hospitality Center was great? Yes!

I did as much as a could do in a long day and evening at SeaWorld, a return trip for me; but purely enjoyable. I even bought a Behind the Scenes tour and highly recommend doing that. Yes, but I was there for the penguins, and penguins I did see and enjoy. The best penguin set up in the world. Best variety of penguins to be seen and the best cared for.

We walked, ate, visited the various animals, and even did the Haunted Lighthouse show. However, we passed on doing the rest of the shows, as they take a lot of time and are less interesting to us than seeing the animals. A special treat was seeing the manatees, a group of three huge creatures, rescued in Florida and living very well in San Diego.

Did I mention the food was great? Really! My fella declared his turkey sandwich at the Anheuser-Busch Hospitality restaurant 'best ever' and that is after we had roast beef sandwiches there several hours earlier. He had to try something else on their menu!

The animals are well cared for, the gardens are beautiful, and the people who work there are kind and friendly. This park is very, very clean and tidy, even on a busy Saturday. I will return! It's that good!

If you take a taxi to SeaWorld, make sure you know where to catch a taxi to depart the park. My taxi driver showed me the pick up point (far to the right as you depart the entertainment area) and hard to find. It is at least a 5 minute walk from the ticket booths as is not at all obvious. They need to do a better job with this for visitors who arrive and depart by taxi.

Sea world is not huge. When we visited in October, the gates opened at 10am and closed at 5pm. Our challenge was to see everything within that time frame. Some of the attractions did not even open until 11 or 12. The shows really are the main attraction, and they are well worth the admission price—be sure to check your admission schedule and plan well to see all the major shows—backtracking will be required. Shamu certainly displaces a lot of water, so be careful where you choose your seat. In each of the show arenas, the area where you might get wet are clearly marked. We very much enjoyed “Pets Rule,” which made us laugh and laugh and appreciate how very talented animals can be. The cafes are cute and scattered around the site, but one would not really say the prices are reasonabl. But then, what can you expect-it is California, after all
