Great for Families on a Rainy Day
There are 9 Sea Life centres in the UK, what makes this one in Brighton unique is that the aquarium first openend in 1872.
The exhibits are modern and geared towards teaching children about marine life and the problems it faces in the 21st century, but the building is Victorian and the architecture and interior are amazing.
The old dolphinarium has been turned into a large turtle pool and the feeding sessions are very interesting to watch from the old theatre seats.
There is a café right in the middle of the exhibition, in the heart of the old building, but it is expensive and frankly not really cosy because people looking at the exhibits sometimes wander through the open space and because it is really quite dark in the subterranean aquarium.
It is mostly nostalgia which takes me to this particular aquarium, I remember it from my childhood. But all in all a this is good place to spend a few hours with your kids on a wet day in Brighton, especially children too young to appreciate sights like the pavillion. Family ticket offers plus the fact that under 3s are free make the experience affordable.
