Santis opened in September 1987 as a small outlet catering to expatriate families in an affluent residential area in Makati. Named after a majestic mountain in northern Switzerland, the shop offers a variety of German, French, Italian, Dutch and Swiss cheeses, sausages and cold cuts, ready-to-eat pasta and prepared sauces, salads and some bakery items, all at retail prices and usable quantities. Santis now operates several branches in Metro Manila which feature larger selections of food and wine as well as imported food preparation equipment. Prices are more reasonable than at hotel delis.
