Santacruzan & Flores de Mayo

Description

These two feasts are close to the heart of every Pilipino. Santacruzan is based on the legend of the finding of Christ?s Cross by the mother of Emperor Constantine, the first Christian Roman emperor. For this occasion, lovely young ladies, dressed in beautiful gowns and escorted by handsome young men, parade through the village or town on the first Saturday each May. For Flores de Mayo, young girls, prettily dressed in white, strew flowers around an image of the Virgin Mary while singing songs celebrating innocence and purity. Come see the Santacruzan & Flores de Mayo on April 16, 2005.
