Banff Mount Norquay

There was some good powder on the mountains that weekend. The weather was pretty good... about 30 degrees F or so. A very good time was had by all... and the hotel was incredible!

I visited Norquay three times in December 2002 and found it too icy, and there was not enough snow compared to Sunshine and Lake Louise. It's worth a coach ride to the others, too. I'd give Norquay a miss if you have the time to travel.

Norquay is not a bad place to ski. However, I'd pick Lake Louise or Sunshine any day. Norquay doesn't get as much snow and the runs are shorter and pretty steep for beginner/intermediate skiers. One good thing is that Norquay is the only Banff ski resort that has night skiing (Friday nights only). Night skiing is free if you buy a tri-area ticket.

Banff Mount Norquay

Banff located in the middle of the Canadian Rockies is a Skiers Paradise destination. Banff Mount Norquay ski resort is the one of them located in the heart of the Banff National Park. Very close to Banff with night skiing. Serviced by five speedy lifts. Very challenging runs. Many guests ask a typical question..."How were the crowds" and my favored answer: "For Europeans - empty for North Americans moderate"! This is the only ski resort who beside the full or half day lift ticket charge you per skiing hour. Many cross-country ski trails are very well prepared in the area. This is the only ski resort located in Banff. Skiing terrain is good for every level of skier. Night skiing is offered here, weather permitting. Daily ski bus service from Banff. For young children ski school offers ski lessons. Here snow making machines support ski slopes with full snow coverage. The best skiing time from the first days of December to the middle of April.
