Description
This ceremony is named after two cannibalistic brothers whose spirits today are believed to be guarding Chiang Mai. Legend has it that Lord Buddha persuaded them to give up their cannibalistic ways, but allowed them instead to eat buffalo flesh once a year. Therefore, at the beginning of the rainy season each year, a buffalo is sacrificed. In days gone by the Prince of Chiang Mai presided over the ceremony. Today it is sometimes attended by local Buddhist monks. Come and witness the ritual or at least the colorful celebrations that follow.
