Description
This is where the 'Crypt of the Heroes' is found, a beautiful historical Sanctuary which guards the mortal remains of the heroes of the Pacific War, among them Miguel Grau and Francesco Bolognesi. The remains of those who fell in the battles of Tacna and Arica, San Juan de Miraflores and Huamachuco, to name but a few, can also be found here.
Its name was given in memory of the architect who built it, Presbitero Matias, who died when building the facade, and was consequently the first to be buried here.
Its symmetrical style is clearly neoclassical. It is one of the most crowded houses in Lima because of its history.
