Description: The Far West in Port Aventura encompasses all of the exciting features of the great ‘Wild Wild West’ this can be no truer than in the Bang Bang West Show. The Bang Bang West Show is located right at the back of the Far West region of Port Aventura in a large stadium-esque arena. My fiancé and I found this extremely difficult to find as the entrance really is secluded and hidden from the main path. I would definitely locate this prior to the start of the show as you do need to be able to get your seats early to avoid disappointment.
We arrived forty minutes before the start of the show and got some great seats with fantastic views of the whole arena. The seating is long concrete benches and these do get very crowded. Also you have to leave buggies at the entrance because there isn’t any room for them in the seating area. There are also some seats which have a splash warning on them, obviously do not sit on one of these if you mind getting a little wet. The arena has disability access although I did not see this during our visit. The arena is well shaded from the elements with its large canopy over all of the seating area.
Prior to the show, the performers try to keep the audience entertained by playing practical jokes on the crowd as they come into the arena. My fiancé found this hilarious and the rest of the crowd were cheering with glee.
The show commences by setting the scene of a group of workers tending to a bank whilst a cowboy deposits a large sum of money. Here is where the stunts and tricks on horses begin as the bandits, another group of performers, attempt to steal the money. The horses are perfectly trained and amazed me with the amount of tricks and stunts that they were able to do. The show was a mixture of thrilling excitement mixed with comedic tricks. The show lasted for half an hour and was brilliant throughout.
All of the family will enjoy this show however parents should note that there are some loud bangs and explosions during the show which might cause younger children to be afraid during the performance. Also lots of horses are used throughout the show which some people may not agree with. Overall a superb show with dedicated and talented performers both human and animal alike.
