Yelapa Boat Cruise

We were given tickets for this for going to a timeshare presentation and were very happy with it! It was through Vallarta Adventures, which leaves out of Nuevo Vallarta but picks up people in Puerto Vallarta on the way. It was an 8-hour tour, giving us breakfast in the morning before we left. We had a very funny tour guide who kept us entertained the whole time. They stopped in a little cove for snorkeling for an hour. We didn't want to snorkel, so we used their kayaks instead. We were then served a pretty good lunch and drinks. Next, you land in Yelapa, a cute little village that is only accessible by boat. We took a short hike up to a waterfall and gladly jumped in! Then we hiked back down to the beach for a little R&R, until it was time to board the boat. We heard about the pie lady and had to try a piece of her pie. We had the coconut, and it was delicious! We would totally recommend this cruise to anyone, and if you can get it for free, even better! If you have a tendency for seasickness, they give out Dramamine, but I used my electronic sea bands and was fine. It's a pretty rocky trip, though.

Puerto Vallarta - Yelapa - Bloodhound yacht

One of the best trips was to the Yelapa village (an old Mexican village located in the jungle, only accessible by water) on the Bloodhound yacht. There were only two other people on the ship, which usually accommodates a much bigger crowd (up to 40 people), so we got a lot of attention from the crew. The yacht is a replica of a 100-year-old racing yacht which sunk. It is made of wood and is very cool-looking. The tour (for the whole day) included breakfast, lunch, drinks, snorkeling, kayaking, and a village tour. On the way to the village, we saw killer whales, which is very unusual in the summer.

Yelapa

I got to Yelapa from Boca de Tomatlan by water taxi, the only other option from taking a boat cruise there. Yelapa, considered to be one of the best beaches in the area, was beautiful. I liked it best because it was the most uncrowded beach I visited, despite it being a Sunday. Clear, warm water, white sand, a small village and rustic cabañas make it probably the best place to relax.

The last water taxi is around 5.30 but check times when you are dropped off. Water taxis are about $6 one way per person.
