We took the funicular up the Mountain at the end of the main drag in Barrio Bellevista at the Zoo. At the top, there is a second ride, on a cablecar to the next station. The two are really fine views. Get off at the next station, and walk northeast, toward the Andes. You'll find a superb winebar, with tastings for about $1, which are poured at about 4 oz. per taste. Sample the superb Chilean reds. The service is attentive, reasonable appetizers are served, and it's all downhill from here, literally.

Parque Metropolitano
Go to web site www.parquemet.cl or send e-mail to pms@parquemet.cl for information. There were school groups hiking, bikers, runners as well as those who took the cable car or funiculars to the top. You can drive as well for a fee. Taxis are available as well for 3000 pesos per person. At the top there are restuarants and a coffee shop as well as a gift shop for film and post cards.
