Parque de la Costa (El Tigre)

It was a lot of fun. I took a train ride to the park. The park itself was a normal amusement park. They had some concerts going on the night I was there, what made is awesome! They had some local bands performing at the amphitheater, and tones of people. After the concert, I took the train back to the station. You can also drive all the way to the park.

The train from Buenos Aires to El Tigre takes about an hour and lets you off right in front of the amusement park.

Since the park stays open until 9pm, we decided to walk down to the market which is only about 5 minutes away. Here there are many stores specializing in crafts such as wicker furniture.

We walked a little further to the river and took a 1 hour boat ride. This peaceful ride in a covered boat, with room for about 40 people, motors gently down the river passing by many cottages along the shore. The calm and relaxing nature of the ride makes the time go by fast and an hour is over before you know it.

After heading back toward the amusement park, the next decision was to go right in or enter the enticing casino beside it, the amusement park won out. It is not a large amusement park, but offers the typical thrilling rides such as rollercoasters, a ride that leaves you hanging upside down, and swings, along with less adventurous rides.

For an extra charge (12 pesos solo or 10 pesos each in tandem) you can combat your fear of heights by experiencing the Vertigo Xtremo. This entails being mummied into a harness and then transported to a platform when you are then lifted up by cables through mid air to a tower, and upon reaching the summit, you must pull the cord on your harnass which releases you into a free fall swing. Each ride is videotaped and the videotape available for sale.

The park also has special shows throughout the day. After the rides close at 9pm, part of the park is still open and we saw an impressive laser light water fountain show synchronized to laser music.
