Description: When our daughter and her girlfriend visited from the UK they asked if we could take them to Canada's Wonderland. They are in their 20's and so enjoy theme parks, but we were not so thrilled and considered our roller coater days in the past. I looked at the pricing and it seemed that if you pay at the gate it is $60 each, but if you book online at least three days in advance you can get tickets for $40 each. Parking is an additional $12. In total four tickets, parking and taxes came to just under $200.
We chose to go on a weekday, outside of holidays so the place was not too busy. We managed to park very easily, close to the entrance and got into the park quickly. The first stop was the brand new coaster called Leviathan. It was huge, some 300 feet high with a very steep drop. My husband and our daughters friend decided to go on it and they stood in line for about 45 minutes before actually getting on the ride which then took 3 minutes. When they got off they said it was fantastic.
Whilst they were on that ride myself and daughter decided to go on the Wild Beast, a wooden coaster. We did not have to wait and boarded pretty much straight away. The ride is very harsh and throws you about a lot. If you have any back or neck issues, do not go on this ride. I ended up with several bruises on my legs and arms from this ride. It was fun though.
We wandered round the park and joined lines as we wanted. We did not have to wait for many rides, in fact most of them we got on straight away. Between us we also went on the The Fly, Thunder Run, Flight Deck, Time Warp, Backlot Stunt, Dodgems and some others I cannot remember.
We also went on the White Water Canyon which is a river ride on a big ring. We though we had gotten away without getting too wet when at the end my husband and I ended up under a waterfall and got soaked with freezing cold water. Fortunately it was a hot day, so we soon dried off.
We also paid the extra few dollars to go to the Dinosaur Alive exhibit. There are lots of animated dinosaurs that are life size and move their bodies. Not brilliant and I personally thought a waste of money, but the girls liked it. This also includes a 3D movie which strangely is located in a different area of the park in the Action Theatre near the White Water Canyon entrance.
We also wanted to go on the go carts but fonnd that we had to pay an additional $12 each, so declined. I thought this a bit extortionate after paying the entrance fee. Our daughter also played on the many arcade type stalls dotted around the park. These too are an extra cost.
All in all we had a great time. We chose a great day to go and didn't have to wait in line for any ride other than Leviathan.
Just one word of caution. Even though the place was not busy we still had to wait a long time for food. We decided to have a Subway and waited for 30 minutes, longer than most of the rides. The menu said choose your bread, with a choice of six, but when I asked for cheese bread they said they on had white or brown bread. Cost $16 for two 6" subs. You might be better to take your own food.
