Open Road Tours

Open Road Tours

I went on a tour on Apache Trail this past weekend and it was amazing! We saw some wonderful sites of mountains, cacti and a beautiful lake! This truly felt like the "Southwest".

My favorite part was the ghost town of Goldfield. We were able to pick up some nice southwestern items. They had a place that you could dress in southwestern wear and get your picture taken…I convinced on of my friends to this as a silly memory. We had a blast! The town had many interesting old attractions like an old mill, an old car, different kinds of equipment and variety of other things. We stopped at a saloon for a drink and captured some pictures. There were plenty of interesting things to take pictures of in the town. We even got to go to a reptile museum that had indigenous snakes, lizards, scorpions and spiders. It was quite interesting to be able to see all the animals, but in a safe environment.

We also stopped at a little town with a population of 6 that was an old stage-coach stop. I had an opportunity to have some sarsaparilla. It tasted a lot like root beer, but stronger in flavor and got some Prickly Pear Cactus ice cream; it was quite good!

Another destination on this trip was a beautiful lake called Canyon Lake and on a dirt road that had fantastic scenery! I cannot even describe the beautiful sites we saw on our journey. This day was a full southwest experience!

(I used a tour company called Open Road Tours that I had used before and I have always had good experiences with them!)

I originally visited Arizona for a conference but decided to stay a few extra days to visit the Grand Canyon. The concierge at my hotel suggested a Grand Canyon tour and booked one for me with Open Road Tours. I am so glad that he did! I had a wonderful experience visiting the canyon and our tour guide was incredible! There were only six of us that were on the tour which made it nice and personable. The guide stopped in Sedona and on the Indian Reservation before we got to the Grand Canyon. The canyon was gorgeos, it was a bit cold but thankfully I had brought a warm jacket along. I actually ended up taking a tour to Jerome and the Verde Train with Open Road Tours as well, which I would highly recommend if you're visiting Arizona (and you have already seen the Grand Canyon). I had a great experience with this company!

Best Tour!

This is the best tour I have ever been on! I found the staff to be helpful and the guides were very informative. I went on a few tours including Sedona and Grand Canyon. The best part was the jeep and helicopter tours! I have the most amazing pictures! All of my hotels that Open Road Tours booked were accessible to restaurants and things to do. They even customized the trip for me. I couldn't have asked for a better trip! If you go to Phoenix and want to tour Arizona look them up: www.openroadtours.com.

We took the flight/van tour package, and it was awesome. It was around $200 but well worth it. They include a helicopter tour of the Grand Canyon, along with stopping on the way to or from the canyon and showing you many of the natural rock formations. I saw spectacular views from the helicopter, and then I saw the roadside overlooks, which were gorgeous. I'm not a professional photographer, but I was even amazed at some of the photos I took on the trip. The staff members were funny, pleasant, and very knowledgeable about everything we saw on the way. If you visit the Phoenix area, give these guys a try; they know their stuff.
