Description
This is a unique opportunity to observe aquatic and terrestrial birds thriving in their natural habitat: the ancient and beautiful Chinampas region of Xochimilco. The experience of wending through the waterways in a craft known as the trajinera, watching rare species of waterfowl, and stopping occasionally to listen to the bird-song all around you, is quite exhilarating. What better way to get to know and appreciate the canals of Xochimilco?
Trips are organized by the Mexican Society of Ornithology every Saturday from 10am to midday. Admission is quite reasonable; there is a car park next to the landing stage; and people are recommended not to bring children under twelve.
