Nur ul-Ihsan Mosque

Description

Phnom Penh has a small Cham Muslim community centered around the Chraing Chamres District to the north of the city. There are two main mosques in the area, Nur ul-Ihsan and the reconstructed An-Nur an-Na'im Mosque a little further to the north. While An-Nur an-Na'im was destroyed by the Khmer Rouge, Nur ul-Ihsan survived their reign, albeit as a pigsty. The mosque which dates back to 1813 is one of the oldest in the region. It can be visited by non-Muslims but not during daily prayers.
