Nice Jazz Festival

Set against the background of Roman ruins, jazz and rock artists liven up the area for seven days. We chose the first day of the festival in 2000, and were somewhat disappointed with the organization. Though we knew who was going to perform, we didn't know when or where. The starting time was listed as 7.30pm, but in fact only local bands of mediocre quality were playing until 8.30. On the schedule we were given at the entry, the Count Basie Orchestra was listed to start at 10.30pm, but actually began at 10! We missed fifteen minutes of their performance because of this mislisting. However, we were quite happy with the performances and the venue.
As with many other jazz festivals nowadays, 'jazz' isn't the only type of music performed. Well-known rock stars and some not-quite-jazz groups are also invited in order to boost ticket sales.
