NASCAR Speedpark

The NASCAR Speedpark is located across from Broadway at the Beach and features seven tracks for racing, with names like Thunder Road, the Competitor, The Intimidator, and The Qualifier. The minimum height for rides is 40 inches for The Qualifier. The height requirement for other rides ranges from 48 to 64 inches. A ride package ($24.95 plus tax) allows you to take unlimited rides on all tracks except Thunder Road, which is the premier track featuring 5/8 scale cars.

Our trip to the Speedpark was on a weekday during the off-peak season, so we paid less for our tickets and did not have to endure large crowds. You can also buy tickets for individual rides if you don’t feel like paying for the package. Unfortunately, some of the attractions, like Thunder Road, were closed because it was midweek. I was able to ride the Competitor and The Intimidator. We took pictures of race cars, including Jeff Gordon's #24 and the Kellogg car.

Other fun activities at the Speedpark include the SpeedDome Arcade (where you can win coupons to trade in for (cheap) prizes), NASCAR Challenge miniature golf, speed bumper boats, and kiddie rides. They also have a NASCAR souvenir shop, where you can purchase any NASCAR product imaginable. The NASCAR Speedpark is a fun place for speed demons of all ages! You can get the passes for all day or by the ticket. The best value is the all-day pass because the "good" tracks can cost up to six tickets and it will probably cost more by the ticket. We had five people go, and they ranged in ages, from 36 up to 59, and everybody had a good time. My mother-in-law had a great time and rode the cars and had fun just like a little kid. Plus, we were all able to drive "fast," because everybody knows how slow the traffic in Myrtle can be.

There are different tracks of different shapes or ovals, and there are different types of go-carts as well. We rode all that we could because some are just for the kids, some for just taller people, and some for two people. They do go pretty fast; I am not sure how fast, but it does seem like you are driving a race car. There are quite a few cars to drive, so as you go around, you are racing with from 4 to 25 cars, depending on the track. Make sure you take your camera, as we had quite a few good pictures of everybody as they were coming down the straight away.

For food and arcade games, they have that, too, but try to curb your appetite and go to the NASCAR Cafe, which is right next door across the parking lot and has just the right feel after racing all day. We went when there were not a lot of people, so that was a plus, but not all the rides were open due to the cooler weather (late April) and lack of the crowds. They didn't have the water bumper cars going because of the weather, and the Eliminator (which costs an extra fee and requires a valid driver's license) was also not open due to the lack of people. This was a lot of fun, and we are definitely going back again next time we are in town.

A day can easily be spent at the Park due to the variety of activities. The grandkids did not get bored. We did not have to drive to several venues for them to have a great day.

Nascar at Broadway at the Beach

We had several groups who went to several activities, but my group chose the Nascar at Broadway at the Beach. The price was not bad and we all had a blast. The line was long, as are all lines for activities at the beach.

It's best to spend the whole day there if you plan to go ride the go-carts on the tracks. The lines are pretty long but the race is worth it. Another source of line delay is when they refill the carts with gas, which takes awhile. But once the racing starts i'ts fun to watch everybody try to manuever around each other, especially when the younger kids all of sudden crash into each other. The tracks increase in difficulty and speed as you go farther into the park. There are seven tracks total.

We didn't go play in the arcade but it did look fun. The climbing wall was also fun and had four different difficulties. They even let us try to go up several times since there wasn't a line. It was much cheaper than the climbing wall at six flags and only cost $5 dollars.

Here's their website.
