Description
It's easy to confuse this stone formation with Pu'upehe. However, Nanahoa is actually comprised of two stone islets located off the western shore of Lana'i. It can be seen from Kaumalapa'u Harbor or Honopu Bay. According to ancient myth, Nanahoa was a man who incurred the wrath of the gods and, together with his wife, was turned into a stone. Both islets are inaccessible to humans. They are designated bird sanctuaries.
