Description
The minaret of this mosque is a Jaffa landmark. It can be seen all over Jaffa, and beyond. It is situated close to the sea, at the base of the bluff upon which Old Jaffa sits. Built in 1812, the architecture of the mosque is impressive, although its overall structure is hard to discern, surrounded as it is by other buildings. From the side facing the sea, the main wooden gate, intricately carved, can be seen, as well as the mosque's distinctive hump-like domes. Unfortunately, a sign at the gate clearly forbids admittance, so, if not a Muslim, the mosque may have to be admired from a distance.
