Metro Zoo

There is so much to do at Metro Zoo. The park is clean, and because it is so large, it is not crowded. However, there is not a lot of shade, so in the summer, be sure to wear sunscreen and bring a hat. What is nice is that there is a monorail that runs through the zoo, so when you get tired, you can hop on the monorail and get a great view/tour of the park.

Miami Metro Zoo

The Miami Metro Zoo was incredible. It is the best zoo I have ever been to. The environment the animals live in and are kept in is very lifelike. I don't remember seeing many animals behind glass or in cages. Most of the animals were out in an area that had big trenches or something to keep them in. The way this zoo is set up is you basically walk a path from one end to the other, and you never have to tun around or see the same animal again. It is great that you can see every animal without having to go back or turn around. You do not have to choose a direction and then go back another direction.

When you get to the end, there is a tram that can either take you through the whole zoo or back to the front gate. I feel like we got to see a lot of the animals out and about and we even went late in the afternoon...it was extremely hot. This is a great place to take the kids, and the adults will enjoy it as well. I know that we enjoyed it very much

Parking is free at this zoo and the parking is actually pretty close. This is the first zoo I have ever been to where parking was free. The day we went the zoo was not crowded and it was very quiet, maybe it was because it was so hot.

The hours of operation are:
9:30am - 5:30pm

The prices are:
Adult (ages 13 & older): $11.50
Seniors: $10.50
Child (ages 3 - 12): $6.75
Children 2 and under: FREE

Miami Metro Zoo

This is a very large and pleasant zoo. There are so many animals, and most of them are in enclosures that do not have any fencing, just a large dry moat. You can tell that the animals have been given great places to live.

The only issue is that this is a large zoo, so be ready to walk a lot unless you rent a bike or use the tram. There is a lot of space between the enclosures, almost as if they plan to one day place new enclosures between the existing ones.

Even though the enclosures are large, you are still able to see the animals. Of course, the animals are more active in the morning than in the hot midday sun. Throughout the day, the zoo gives different shows and talks, and you can even feed the pelicans. There are also a few exhibits for kids to play in. There is so much to do. If you plan on walking everywhere and seeing all the animals, make sure you leave at least 2 to 3 hours to see that place. We had a great time visiting this zoo and would love to go back.

Good zoo. There was hardly anyone there when we went. A good variety of animals, but very little shade. There is a monorail, but is pretty slow and is spaced 15 minutes apart. It's fun for adults and kids, but make sure you wear sunblock.
