The museum has many interactive exhibits that focus on marine biology and astronomy. I really liked the three-dimensional exhibit and the giant meteor the best. Pricing varies on which package you buy. The packages include admission to certain exhibits and the IMAX theater.

The Maryland Science Center was a fun and educational place to spend our last afternoon in Baltimore. We spent most of our time in the Newton's Alley and Your Body exhibits. The other exhibits mainly focused on dinosaurs and space, and they simply weren't as enjoyable.

The first floor of the Center features working geyser models and--for an additional fee--a Segway tour. Newton's alley has a lot of classic hands-on physics exhibits. I didn't learn much of anything new in this area, but it was fun to play around and apply or demonstrate simple principles. The Your Body exhibit was more interesting, offered more learning opportunities, and had more unique exhibits. The best exhibit featured an interactive lie detector, so make sure to bring a friend. The instructions ask that your try to guess a number that your partner is chosen, but it's also fun to ask embarrassing or nagging questions for which you've been dying to know the truth.

It was a fun, although half the exhibition areas were kind of boring. But that allowed us to spend more time in the areas we enjoyed instead of rushing to see everything. I recommend it.

The Maryland Science Museum is awesome with its variety of displays for kids of all ages. There are dinosaurs on the ground floor along with interactive displays about the earth and our environment. On the upper floor, there are exhibits about the human body as well as musical sounds.

But we always head straight for the top since there's a room just for kids under 2. And my daughter absolutely loves the room with its 'cave' on a waterbed-type surface and soft blocks. In another area, there are Lego's. And there's a bookshelf with lots of great books to read (although as you would expect, the books aren't in the greatest condition!). We can happily spend hours in this room -- which is a great escape on both cold winter days and hot summer days.

Outside the special infant and toddlers room is the kids room which has a bunch of fun exhibits. Even my husband and I love making hand prints in the boards made with plastic needles, and it's fun to ring the doorbells and see which sounds will come out.

Besides the standard exhibits, there are also traveling exhibits, which are an additional fee, and an IMAX theatre.

I was so happy with the Science Center that I decided to get a year-long membership -- definitely worth it for $75/year. And not only do I get entrance into the museum in Baltimore, I get entrance into museums all over the country (see the list under http://www.astc.org/members/passlist.htm). Regular admission is $14.50.

The Science Center also has special events throughout the year. We had a great time at the museum's 30th anniversary party complete with a concert, someone making balloon animals, face painting, and bubbles. There are infant/toddler and kids' story times as well.

The museum is all hands-on. You can touch and learn all about different science things at the museum. We like the IMAX theater. All the films are well done. The one on Everest is my favorite. There is also a snack bar for parents. Since my kids are older, I left them explore the center on their own. The knew I would be waiting for them downstairs. One trip is usually enough to see everything. Allow 2-4 hours.

The Maryland Science Center is at the end of the Harbor's Boardwalk. It's a three story building that features lots of exhibits, a planetarium, observatory, and an IMAX Theatre. The admission price includes everything except the IMAX. The kids will enjoy this museum, because it's built with them in mind. The IMAX theatre is not the best I've ever seen, but it's okay. They usually has movies for every audience, such as Fantasia 2000 or the new Michael Jordan flick. The kids will like it.
