Just a few blocks behind the Town Hall, on the corner of rue de l'Etruve and rue du Chêne stands the Manneken Pis , the statue of the little boy weeing.
No one really knows how this statue became so popular, though many legends exist. But it is sincerely believed that it was created to be nothing more than a fountain topper. Costumes (i.e. Santa Claus, Elvis Presley, kimonos, etc.) have been created for the boy.
If you NEED to see this little boy urinating, by all means, do so. However, I was surprised by how small the statue really was. We fell upon the tiny sqaure where the fountain is located during the pouring rain while kids and tourists were hovering under awnings. Once the rain stopped, the statue was swarmed by people.
