We were supposed to take a catamaran to Magen's Bay, but the excursion was cancelled at the last minute. We decided to take a taxi to the same destination. For a number of years, Magen's Bay was voted one of the world’s top-ten beaches. I now know why. When you get there, you are surrounded by a thick canopy of flowered trees that open up to the bay, which itself is a huge U-shaped beach. The white sand is like powder and the waves are crystal clear and roll so slowly. The beach is considered a national park, so you don't pay an admission - you make a $3 donation and use of the beach is your thank you. After swimming here, I couldn't go back to the Jersey Shore!
We rented some lounge chairs and hung on the beach. I took a walk to the dive shop and bought a beach football. The group of us hung out throwing the ball back and forth. Magen's Bay is so relaxing, you feel the need to do nothing but enjoy yourself.
Bartenders walk right out to the water to take your order. The food at the stand is good too, especially the pizza.
One drawback - the bathrooms. I've never seen a clean bathroom at a beach, and this one was no exception. It's located about 20 yards from the water. Wear shoes, that's all I'm gonna say.
