Magens Bay Beach

We went to Magen’s Bay beach because we heard there was good snorkeling there. The beach was beautiful and not crowded (I guess there were no cruise ships in port.) Unfortunately, there really wasn’t anything to see snorkeling there, but the water was calm and clear. We had lunch at the snack bar there and the food wasn’t great, but much better than I expected it to be.

Magen's Bay

We sat on the beach and drank bushwhackers all day long. This was our first full day in St. Thomas. All tension from work was lost that day.

We were supposed to take a catamaran to Magen's Bay, but the excursion was cancelled at the last minute. We decided to take a taxi to the same destination. For a number of years, Magen's Bay was voted one of the world’s top-ten beaches. I now know why.

When you get there, you are surrounded by a thick canopy of flowered trees that open up to the bay, which itself is a huge U-shaped beach. The white sand is like powder and the waves are crystal clear and roll so slowly. The beach is considered a national park, so you don't pay an admission - you make a $3 donation and use of the beach is your thank you. After swimming here, I couldn't go back to the Jersey Shore!

We rented some lounge chairs and hung on the beach. I took a walk to the dive shop and bought a beach football. The group of us hung out throwing the ball back and forth. Magen's Bay is so relaxing, you feel the need to do nothing but enjoy yourself.

Bartenders walk right out to the water to take your order. The food at the stand is good too, especially the pizza.

One drawback - the bathrooms. I've never seen a clean bathroom at a beach, and this one was no exception. It's located about 20 yards from the water. Wear shoes, that's all I'm gonna say.

This was a beautiful beach with white sand. When you think of a beautiful Caribbean beach, this one should one of the firsts to come to mind.
