Description: This marvelous structure contains the art collection of the Hapsburg Monarchy. There is a huge amount of paintings and sculptures, too much to see in one day. Let me point you though at a few items. In my mind the golden salt cellar by Benvenuto Cellini is a must to see. For the Egyptologist there is an impressive bust of King Thutmosis III, but most of all there are tremendous collections of Flemish and Dutch paintings ; 16th century Venetian paintings, Italian paintings as well as outstanding French and Spanish paintings. I was much impressed with the Coin collections shown as well as the Oriental and Egyptian antiquities. Leave plenty of time for a visit here if you have any interest in art or art history.
