Kreuzkirche is today's town Protestant Church, founded 1215 by St. Nicholas Church (Nicolaikirche). The church had been leveled three times by fire (1669) and war (during the thirty year war 1760, 1897.) The church survived WWII inspite of the fires destroying the interiors due to it was rebuilt with modern steel supports from the prior destruction. Concerts are performed here. The tower provides a great downtown view once you get to the top by the stairs.
