Description
Kompong Chhnang is a slow moving provincial town on the banks of the Tonle Sap. Grand old buildings and leafy parks make it a pleasant place to visit. Chhnang means pot in Khmer, and can be attributed to the strong tradition of pottery in the region. Visitors can buy traditional earthenware at any number of roadside stalls. A day trip could also include the old capital of Oudong, which lies about half way between Phnom Penh and Kompong Chhnang. Busses to Kompong Chhnang leave from Phnom Penh's Central Market (USD1.25).
