Kirkstall Abbey

Leeds doesn't have quite the historical or cultural draw of other English cities like York, Bath, and London, but when you see Kirkstall Abbey, you wonder why. Kirkstall is a ruin of a medieval monastery. You can tell it once was a massive structure, but now as a ruin, it provokes more thought and awe. The abbey is surrounded by greenery, and is just beautiful. Parents bring their kids here to play in the park next to the river. It is also a great place to take a picnic lunch. Plus, it's free to see!
