Kirirom National Park

Description

Kirirom is a large nature reserve within easy day tripping range from Phnom Penh. The heavily wooded park offers excellent hiking and sightseeing with waterfalls, lakes and mountain streams. Before 1975, this area was popular with the local and colonial elite because of its cooler mountain climate. One of the few buildings to survive the Khmer Rouge regime is the former summer palace of King Sihanouk. This is still furnished an can be visited by tourists. To get there take Highway #4 from Phnom Penh. The turn to Kirirom is sign-posted 85km from the city.
