Description
Once a tourist mecca where King Sihanouk went to holiday, Kep was largely destroyed during the Khmer Rouge years. Today, it is a village hamlet by the sea with little development. Although not spectacular, Kep exudes a special atmosphere. The beachside market is famous for the best crabs in Cambodia, and a kilo, cooked while you wait, will set you back less than USD2. Taxis leave Phnom Penh's Psar Daem Ko (Daem Ko Market) regularly and cost about USD1.50 one-way.
