Kapiti is a NZ nature preserve. It is essentially an experiment to bring Kapiti back to the natural state of NZ before the introduction of possums and other non-native animals and plants. I believe you have to have a permit to be there. It is amazing. . . the views from the top are unreal. You feel like you can see all the way to Australia (ok, that's an exaggeration but it's awesome!).
