I never go out and do tours in the Seattle area, I've lived here for 20 years and always figure I don't need to. My brother and his kids came to visit last summer, and I broke tradition and went on a tour of the Seattle Harbor with them on an Argosy Cruise. By the time the cruise was over I was kicking myself for not going sooner - the views were amazing, and I actually learned quite a bit about the area that I hadn't known before. It was just a one-hour tour, but I definitely recommend it to anyone, whether with family, on a date, or with friends.

If you want to go on a cruise while in Seattle, Argosy Cruises is the one to choose. This activity also came with our City pass and included a one-hour cruise of the bay. We decided to upgrade to the locks cruise and I’m so glad we did. We all met at the pier and they bused us up to where the boat was and took pictures of us. Then we were off on the cruise. They take you buy million dollar homes and give you tons of info about what’s around there. They also pointed out the houseboat that was used in Sleepless in Seattle, which was pretty cool. Going through the locks was really fun to do. It was interesting to see how they get you from one body of water to a different one that is also at different depths. Then after a while you get to where you can see the city. Seattle is an amazing city to see from the water and I can totally see why people love living here. The crew was all very friendly and answered any questions. They have cocktails and food for sale on the boat also and a bathroom is available should you need it. I would definitely recommend going on a cruise tour with Argosy Cruises.

If you are doing the an Argosy Cruise, try the Locks cruise. The cruise shows you how the locks separate and connect the salt water of Puget Sound and the fresh water of Lake Union via the Hiram Chittenden Locks. You are also treated to views of the city and the "Sleepless in Seattle" houseboat community. After the tour, why not go to the locks and see how they look from above. There is also a locks museum where you can see how the locks work. The cruise is both educational for the kids and beautiful/romantic for you.

This is a picture of us on the cruise. This is when the locks are drained of fresh water and then filled back up with salt water from the other side. Look at the water level!
