Iglesia de San Blas

Description

Situated to one side of the main entrance to the historical center of the city, this church was constructed in 1568 under the supervision of the architects Jorge Guzmán and Fermín Taipe, and restored in 1989. The church was built at a higher level than the adjacent square, and has a single elongated nave, in adobe, which is semi-octagonal at one end. The new vicarage faces Caldas street but the old, two-story adobe vicarage still remains next to the church. The two most prominent features of the church are its stone facade and its single bell tower.
